Professional Dog Trainer
Founder & Co Owner of Wild Paws & Co
Jenn grew up with family dogs, so she learned from an early age how dogs live, love and behave. She enjoys the outdoors and sharing her adventures with family, friends and of course, her dogs. You can find her hiking and camping during the summer months, and in the winter she spends her time at an ice rink - as a synchronized skater. She even has a few Canadian Gold medals.
In 2015, Jenn, her husband and her parents started a family business, called Four Corners K9. What started off as baking dog treats for a fundraiser for Dog Rescues, turned into something more. In 2016, they evolved into Wild Paws & Co specializing in Dog Treats, and K9 Birthday Treats. In 2018, Jennifer opened her Dog Training Academy under Wild Paws & Co. Wild Paws & Co is happy to serve Hamilton, Glanbrook, Burlington and Mississauga!
Dog Training wasn't always a career path for Jennifer. After working in the medical field and in school for Nursing, Jenn decided to take a risk and dive into the world of Dog Training. After a 2 year apprenticeship studying with Eric Straetmans at Beyond the Leash K9 Training, Jenn became a certified Dog Trainer in August 2018 and opened her own Dog Training Academy in Burlington. She has studied the methods of Dog Behaviourist Patricia McConnell, Ph.D., after having to work with aggression and anxiety with her own adopted and rescued dogs. Jenn continues to work with local rescues; fostering, assessing, and evaluating dogs. She has also taken courses in anxiety, aggression and dog and baby safety. She hosts educational and training seminars in the Hamilton and surrounding area for Save Our Scruff Rescue.
Jennifer is a member of the CAPPDT (Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers- region of Central Ontario), IACP (International Association of Canine Professionals), and PIJAC Canada (Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council). Being a volunteer for Canada wide dog rescues, she is also a member of the Western Canada Association of Dog Training.
Jennifer continues her education by taking Continued Education Units through the CAPPDT. You can also find her working at Eric Straetmans school every Sunday, teaching both novice, intermediate and advanced levels.
